This paper investigates the problem for the non-fragile state estimation of discrete-time neural network system with randomly occurring sensor saturations and time delays. In order to show the possible gain variations occurring in complex environments, a non-fragile state estimator is designed to ensure the estimation error converges to zero exponentially. And, by using a sensor saturation function to deals with the sensor saturation phenomenon. Then, Lyapunnov-Krasovskii functional approach is proposed, sufficient conditions are established to guarantee the existence of the desired state estimator. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper is concerned with practical tracking synchronization problem for disturbed networked Lagrangian systems based on pinning control framework. We propose a pinning algorithm to guarantee the practical tracking synchronization of networked identical Lagrangian systems by applying local linear feedback injections to a small fraction of nodes. We also present a simple yet generic criteria on pinning synchronization for such algorithm over undirected connected graphs, where all the agents are regulated to follow a desired time-varying target trajectory with a desired tracking error bound. It is worth noting that pinning control and local linear feedback control techniques have not yet been used to study the synchronization and control of networked Lagrangian systems, due to the strong nonlinearity of the Lagrangian system. Pinning control is used to study synchronization of networked Lagrangian systems in our paper, which further extends the ideals and techniques presented in previous works on Lagrangian systems. As a direct application of the theoretical results, synchronization of eight two-link revolute manipulators is simulated and discussed in detail. Numerical experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed control technique.

Two sufficient conditions for a generic master-slave synchronization scheme by linear state error feedback control are derived based respectively on Sylvester's criterion and Gerschgorin disc theorem, which are expressed by some inequalities. It is proven theoretically that the sufficient condition by Sylvester's criterion is more flexible than that by Gerschgorin disc theorem. The two sufficient conditions are further compared by three typical chaotic systems: the Duffing equation of two dimensions, the Lorenz system of three dimensions and a loudspeaker system of four dimensions. Numerical simulations support the theoretical result.

The robust practical synchronization of two chaotic horizontal platform systems with parameter mismatch via output feedback control is investigated. Some simple yet general algebraic criteria are derived based on practical stability theory of nonautonomous dynamical system. A distinctive feature of this work is that the parameter mismatch can not only be existed in system parameters, but also in external excitation ones. Furthermore, the values of parameters mismatched can be uncertain, which only their bounds need to be known. Besides, output feedback control including a differentiation filter only needs to know information about one state, which provides an advantage over the use of full-state model-based observers. Finally, numerical simulations further demonstrate the effectiveness of the criteria and the robustness of the control technique. It is believed that the presented technique may provide a valuable insight into the underlying use of chaos synchronization in practical designs and engineering applications.

This paper studies robust synchronization of two chaotic horizontal platform systems with external harmonic excitations via linear state error feedback control, where parameter mismatch exists between the external harmonic excitations in the master system and slave one. Based on Lyapunov stability theory and Sylvester's criterion, some sufficient synchronization criteria are derived in the form of algebraic inequalities and the corresponding synchronization error bounds are estimated. Besides, we also establish the relationships between the estimated synchronization error bound and parameter mismatch as well as the coupling coefficients. Simulations verify the effectiveness of these criteria, and the estimated synchronization error bounds can be compared with the numerical ones in the examples. Both the theoretical and numerical results show that the present linear state error feedback control is effective and robust.

Utilizing the idea of the open-plus-closed-loop control, a simple continuous controller composed of periodic external excitation and linear feedback is designed to entrain the chaotic trajectory of Mathieu-Duffing oscillator to converge to its inherent periodic and multi-periodic trajectories. By means of the Lyapunov stability theory, the global basin of entrainment of the open-plus-closed-loop control is established. Numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the application of the theoretical results.
